DRIVE: page 174 comp

I just hit on this "detail-shot collage-look" for parts of the book.
Generally happy with the look and feel of this spread.
Moving onto others now.

  1. It looks very nice!
There is just one thing bothering me, the transparency of the close-up puts some "reflections" over the right rear tire of the car and the wing, and it makes them look very shiny, where they shouldn't be. Apart of that, it's very cool!

  3. Y-One, yeah I saw that the other day. I might revisit it and erase more of the overlap. Although might be okay as this part of the image passes through the gutter of the book.
    PaoYunSoo, Gino, thanks.

  4. I'm curious as to how much of these images, especially the shiny/metallic ones, you did by hand as opposed to the Modo/paintover method.

I'm terrified that you'll answer "Oh no, I did these all freehand." I know that you're capable of doing that and that's what scares me.

  5. Lookin' cool Scott, how are you liking Modo? I love it, glad to see so many artists are using it. I'm currently using it to build a tank I did for my Gnomon DVDs series, so much fun. :)

  9. Hey, just thought I'd say again how much I appreciate the DVDs you guys have put out. I've been studying your perspective DVD hard lately and it's improved my drawing skill massively.

Couldn't come close to this a month ago:

  10. Thanks for visiting CCS! We went to dinner and started sulking about how we're missing viscom 5,6,7,8 and 9. Good times.

  11. I love your stuff, Scott! This spread is fantastic. I hope to one day attend art center after high school (and after boning up on traditional art), and it would make my week if you took a look at my art blog from my profile (I totally understand if you don't feel like it, I don't want to be "that guy" who always asks obnoxious requests). Keep up the mind-blowing work.
